
Frontier Developments
Frontier Developments is a British game developer based in Nottingham.
Founded in 1994 by David Braben, the company has produced several games for the Elite series and develops management simulators Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo.
Frontier is also known for Dog’s Life, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, and LostWinds. The company’s first game was an Amiga CD32 port of Frontier:Elite II IN 1993, which was the first sequel to the game Elite by Acornsoft.
For a short period of time, Frontier Developments had a North American studio in Canada, between 2012 and 2015.
In 2017, Frontier Developments acquired licensing rights from Universal Pictures for Jurassic World Evolution. This was then released in 2018. Jurassic World Evolution 2 was later released in 2021 as a sequel to the game.
Formula One signed an agreement with Frontier Developments to allow the development of several management simulation games based on F1. The first game released was F1 Manager 2022.
Tencent has a 9% share in the company.
