CD Projekt RED

CD Projekt RED is a Polish game developer based in Warsaw, Poland and is best known for the game series of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077.

The company was founded by Marcin Iwiński and Michał Kiciński in 1994. 

In 2002, CD Projekt acquired the rights to Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher books, which in turn led to the development of its first original game, The Witcher, released in 2007. CD Projekt Red created games based on The Witcher Series and Cyberpunk 2077.

 CD Projekt Red developed a game engine, REDengine, for its nonlinear RPGs. This evolved through four versions before being retired in 2022 in favor of Unreal Engine 5.
