Bungie
Bungie is an American video games company founded in 1991 by Alex Seropian. It is based in Bellevue, Washington, and is a subsidiary of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
In its early years, the company focused on Macintosh games and created the successful video game franchises, Marathon and Myth.
In 2000, Microsoft acquired Bungie, and the company created the launch title for Microsoft’s Xbox console, Halo: Combat Evolved, which launched one of gaming’s biggest action game franchises.
In 2007, Bungie split from Microsoft; however, Microsoft retained the ownership of the Halo franchise intellectual property. Following this, Bungie became a privately held company, Bungie LLC.
A publishing deal with Activision was created in 2010, and the first project was Destiny , a first-person shooter game.
Sony then acquired Bungie in 2022 for $3.6 billion.
