From Software is a Japanese game developer and publisher based in Tokyo, Japan. Best known for developing the Souls series, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

The company was founded in 1986 as a business software developer before releasing its first video game, King’s Field, for PlayStation in 1994. It was founded by Naotoshi Zin, and since 2014, Hidetaka Miyazaki has served as the company’s director and president, directing and designing the majority of the company’s games.

Kadokawa Corporation owns 70% of the company, with other stakeholders including Sixjoy Hong Kong (16%) and Sony Entertainment (14%).

The company mainly self-publishes in Japan and has partnered with international publishers, including Agetec, Bandai, Capcom, Koch Media, Namco Entertainment, Nintendo, Sega, and Sony.

FromSoftware has released games including Dark Souls, Demon’s Souls, Echo Night, Elden Ring, Lost Kingdom, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
